Professional Mobilities for the Future of Craftsmanship

Professional Mobilities for the Future of Craftsmanship

MOSAIC’s Professional Mobilities offer a unique opportunity for artisans, company owners, and professionals working in the Arts & Crafts sector to enhance their skills, gain international exposure, and participate in a European network of excellence. These one week experiences are carefully designed to combine hands-on learning with peer exchange: participants present their businesses and professions in VET schools abroad, engage with students during practical workshops, and take part in company visits and peer-to-peer sessions with colleagues from other countries. The goal is to promote mutual learning, showcase emerging technologies and practices, and support lifelong upskilling. These mobilities are more than training opportunities – they are spaces to reflect, share, and innovate within the evolving context of craftsmanship and vocational excellence in Europe.

Eligible sectors

MOSAIC professional mobility experiences are open to professionals working in the Arts & Crafts sector, with a specific focus on traditional and contemporary fields that blend manual skills, creativity, and innovation. Eligible sectors include:

Ceramics and pottery

Woodworking and carpentry

Textile and fashion design

Metalworking and jewelry

Graphic and visual design

Architecture and advertising

And more!

In addition, some of the training courses offered within the programme also include transversal modules focused on: DIGITALISATION and SOCIAL SKILLS, supporting a more holistic and future-oriented upskilling experience.

Services provided

Selected professionals participating will receive a grant covering essential costs related to their stay abroad. This includes international travel (flights) as well as a daily subsistence allowance to cover: accommodation, local transportation, and catering expenses throughout the mobility. The goal is to ensure that participants can fully focus on learning, exchanging practices, and engaging with their peers and host organisations. All logistics will be coordinated in collaboration with the sending and hosting partners to guarantee a smooth and enriching experience from start to finish.

Within the MOSAIC project, the Guidelines for Organising Professional Mobilities were developed based on the experience gained during pilot professional mobilities carried out across six project countries. Throughout the piloting phase, feedback was systematically collected from participants, hosting organisations, and sending organisations in order to understand strengths, challenges, and areas for improvement in the organisation of professional mobility activities. The document below brings together the key lessons learned from this process and translates them into practical guidelines aimed at supporting institutions that wish to organise or participate in professional mobilities. The recommendations are intended for both hosting and sending organisations and provide a structured reference to help ensure high-quality, well-coordinated, and impactful mobility experiences.
